Barbara Strickarz Honored as 2006 Athena Nominee

On Nov. 3, 2006 Barbara Strickarz, Senior Vice President of Schools & Residences, was publicly honored as a 2006 Athena Award Nominee by the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, the only chamber in the state that presents this prestigious award.

Only six nominees were selected in respect to their commitment to their profession, their community, and their efforts on behalf of the advancement of women. One of the nominees is presented with the Athena Award.

The national Athena Award program honors individuals who excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community, and open paths to others.

The 2006 Athena Nominees include: Sylvia Allen, president of Allen Consulting, who received the Athena Award; Jeanne Warnock, president of Family Intervention Service; RoseAnn P. Polo, C.S.W., Bettina Munson, partner at Lomurro, Davison, Eastman and Munoz, P.A.; Barbara Davis of Barbara Davis Employment Services; and Barbara Strickarz, head of the High Point Schools. Barbara has served as the advocate for more than 4,000 special needs children, hundreds of interns, teachers and staff who have passed through the doors of the High Point Elementary School and High Point Adolescent School. 

Award for Service — In June, Barbara was recognized for serving three terms on the Special Education Advisory Council representing private approved schools for the disabled.
